I really wanted to like this book, but for the most part it felt like an exercise of thought of he type ‘what would happen if’ which was taken *lengthily* and with painstakingly detail which failed at getting one immersed in the narrative. Sure, it’s all interesting that there is this or that evolutionary outcome in the parallel earths but the book can be roughly cut down in three parts:
1. An interestingly enough introduction which brought likeable characters who basically disappeared.
2. An obscenely long and detailed account of the differences found in organisms with way too little attention to a story or characters.
3. A rushed up cliff-hanger unending.
Yes, it’s obvious that if you’re gong to write a trilogy you’d expect your readers to buy all three books but the first book is just sliced through, it’s just all boom, wow, it’s over.
Then there are the characters, I tried to like them as well and they have each their own moments but this book, first of all, is nearly devoid of them and what little they do shows very little development.
